had new pads placed on front brakes.....they were very very grabby.....soon I developed a pulsation like a warped rotator....went back to dealer basically gave me some BS excuse and switched out pads......pulsating is still there but significantly less and they say rotator is within limits.....
I would think that the rotator is indeed warped but how? this is a $370 problem that I dont understand. I electively replaced the pads because I had them and I believed that I was getting close...17K miles. So much for preventive maintenance

It could also be a sticking piston in the brake calliper.
I did mine a few days ago and it made a BIG improvement, I was getting the same symptoms, but my discs are fairly new :-D
I used a couple of small G-clamps to hold two of the pistons in, while I pumped the opposite ones out, but not all the way (no more than 15/18mm) Clean the pistons (spray on brake cleaner is good) I used a old toothbrush to get them nice and clean, then apply some 'brake seal grease' before you push the pistons back in, repeat on opposite pistons, then on the next calliper, it took me about 1 hour to do them both :upthumb:
My brake lever is now almost solid, result!

Hi Tooth,

It could be "hard spots" that developed on the rotors; if the metal gets hard in a particular area, the pad will just let the rotor "slip" by with very little grip and then "grab" the softer metal creating an "on/off" effect in the braking. Look for any discoloration or unusually shiny areas on the rotors. I had a problem with my Trophy's front brakes when it was fairly new and (after much "discussion" with the dealer and Triumph) they were replaced under warranty. They've been fine ever since. See if you can find anything out from Triumph or the dealers about "problem rotors"; I say this because when I was looking into the extended warranty, just before the factory one expired, the service manager made a reference to the rotors and then remembered that mine were done and told me I was probably O.K. without buying the extra warranty. Sure sounded like they found out there was some kind of a problem with them at some time.

Anyway, that's the story...hope it helps you: Jim
