I am struggling to find the right height windscreen that doesn't punish me by tossing my head back and forth. I have tried 3 different screens ranging in total lengths from 14" to 16". I have the same issue as a previous post that said the screen seemed to affect how the bike felt, because mine feels like the rear tire is always flat.
I agree with him that the windshield height may be a factor in my bike feeling loose in the rear. My current screen measures 16" down the middle and the air hits me at my eyeballs. I am 6 ft. 1/2 in tall, 33" inseam, 33 inch sleeve length. I have a Corbin gunfighter seat. The wind beats me up pretty hard from the eyeballs on up.
How much taller a screen would you suggest I get to create better airflow? 2 or 3 inches? What screen for this year Trophy offers a solid screen that doesn't flap in the wind? I rode a 1996 Trophy a couple of times and it had a Clearview XL screen that waffled in the wind.
Or, do I do as someone else suggested in another post, go ahead and cut my other stock screen (14" down the middle) down to a lower height to create airflow below my eyes. I am thinking about cutting 2" off to see what effect this has on the bike. I owned a TT600 prior to the Trophy and loved the airflow on it which made me think about cutting one of the screens down. What do you think? more or less cut?
Thanks.

I too don't like the stock screen it doesn't suit me, too much buffeting.
Jim, is your taller screen a flip up?.
Does anyone know if a double bubble screen is available for the Trophy?.

Jim,
Post results of what you find with the cut-down on the windscreen. I'm getting exactly the same buffeting and handling issue on my '95 Trophy, even with a +2 screen (I'm 6'2"). I think a new screen shape is in order rather than simply a taller screen.

I've found that a shorter screen "usually" results in a quieter and smoother ride, because the air flow breaks over the screen about shoulder height and down, leaving your head in reletively smooth air.
To get a screen tall enough to push the airflow over a 6ftr's head would have to be tall enough that you look through the screen. My '02 has the stock screen, but with Gen-Mar risers and a Corbin canyon sport seat that put me more upright and further back from the screen. Though it's noisey I don't get any buffeting and it blocks the rain and cold pretty well.
You might try attacking the problem from another angle, ie; move yourself back and up with different risers in relation to the screen instead of changing the screen height. Next summer I'd like to get a very short screen so I get better more cooling air on me, then switch back to the stocker for the winter. I think there's a link to a company in Oz or NZ that makes them. :-D

Hi Jim,
You might try putting some of the Saeng edging strip on the windshield top as it creates a bit of a flip-over in the airstream. I put some on mine and it seems to add a couple of inches of effect to it. It doesn't come cheap, however, so it'd be wise to try just enough to do the top of the screen.
Hope this is a bit of a help: Jim
