Can someone tell me what the stock gearing is for the Trophy? Not the over all ratio, but the number of teeth on the countershaft and rear wheel sprockets. Mine is a '95, so if anyone can give me for that year, as opposed to any gearing changes made later, I'd appreciate it. Also I'd like to know what gearing everyone is running currently.

Mine is also a '95, a triple. I recently did chain/sprockets and discovered the P/O had changed the rear from the stock 46 tooth to a 43 tooth. I was wanting lower rpm at cruising speed, so I replaced the 43 with a 46. I was thinking wrong, because now the bike takes off a little quicker - but runs 500-600 rpm higher at speed. Next time I'm going back to the 43 tooth. Now that I've bored you to death, the stock units are 19 tooth front, 46 tooth rear.

I believe my 98 1200 is 18 front and 41 rear stock.

In 1996, the 1200s had 18 tooth front and 44 tooth rear.

You can increase your fuel mileage and drop the revs down about 500-800 RPM by going to a 19 front and a 40 rear. You will lose a tiny amount of low-end "grunt" doing this, but it's well worth it.

Obviously, the chain length would also need to be altered.

The 2001 comes with a 2.33 ratio which is a 18 primary and a 42 rear. For economy and highway use the 19 primary and 40 rear will provide a 2.10 ratio which really provides a great cruising range. For the mountain riding is my area the bike has a 19 primary and a 48 rear and at 2.52 ratio does wheel stands. The 2.52 ratio is the same as the 2001 triple which comes standard with 17 primary and 43 rear.
Triumph have 17, 18 and 19 primary sprockets available and rears are virtually anything you want. :???:

The original post was because I got a 44 tooth rear sprocket off of ebay and was wondering what C/S to get, as I didn't have my manual handy to check. Anyway, What was on the bike was a 45 rear. According to my Triumph manual, the '95 1200 had stock gearing of 18/44. So I'm gonna put a 18 on the front and see how stock is, though I don't expect much difference for 1 tooth down in the rear.

Further information is at hand on the issue of standard gearing.
1200 Trophy 91 to 96 models 18/45 = 2.5 drive ratio
1200 Trophy 97 to 99 models 18/42 = 2.33 ratio
1200 Trophy 00 model = 18/40 = 2.22 ratio
1200 Trophy 01 model = 19/40 = 2.10 ratio
1200 Daytona 93 -96 = 18/43 = 2.38 ratio
1200 Daytona 97 = 18/42 = 2.33 ratio

Make of it what you will. :???:

according to my Triumph service manual the 94-95 throphy 1200 had gearing of 18/44, final ration 2.4; 91-93 had the 2.5 or 18/45.

I located the information from the web site of a gear and sprocket, for bikes, supplier in the UK and maybe there is a difference in bikes supplied to the USA. :???:
