On Friday I spent most of an hour stuck in traffic on 35E, travelling at between 0 and 10 mph in a thundershower. We (the bike and I) got soaked. I decided that even with the Trophy's fairing I really should have waterproof pants if I intend to ride in the rain much. So I stopped at home, garaged the bike, put on dry clothes, and went back to work (I hadn't intended for lunch to get so long but anyway). The bike spent the weekend in the garage, while I worked on the house. And then something strange happened.

Before last Friday, the Trophy always felt huge and heavy at very slow speeds. It was difficult for me to maintain smooth clutch/throttle modulation without having to weave to maintain balance. But since getting back on it on Monday, it's felt like an entirely different, entirely smaller bike. Creeping traffic and narrow parking spaces are now no obstacle to smooth, controlled, predictable riding at all.

The only conclusion I can draw is that the thorough soaking in Friday's thunderstorm, followed by a hot weekend in the garage, caused the bike to shrink!

Sounds like a case a shrinking bike dysfunction. Wash and wax it and it will recover.
Good riding,

This happens a lot in rainy ol England- that's why they made the Rocket so big. By the time it's run in it's more manageable.
