After being away from motorcycles for 30+ years I bought a Legend 2 1/2 years ago. Never looked back! I have 45000 miles on it and love it as much today as I did when I purchased it. But I always had an itch for a true touring bike. Yesterday I joined this side of the Triumph forum by buying a Trophy. Found an older gentleman who bought this bike in June, 2004. It is a 2003 model which probably makes it somewhat rare. Being the last year it was imported I think maybe not many made it to these shores. This man had health problems ( brain tumor) and finally decided he would never be able to ride it. It has 270 miles on the clock and is pristine. It is graphite in color which is a color that I haven't seen on a Trophy before. Looking forward to being part of the Trophy family. Any time you are coming to L A (lower Alabama) give me a shout and we will ride. We have 11 curves in 318 miles of road.

Welcome to our side of the forum Flybiker!!!! I like the graphite color. I saw one a few years ago and it was a sharp looking bike. Only 270 miles? That thing isn't even broke in yet. Sorry to hear about the previous owners illness. Hopefully, he beats the tumor and will get a chance to ride someday. Honor him by putting some miles on that bike.

Cool! I've had my 2000 model since May of this year. Besides replacing the coils it's been no trouble at all and a good two up machine. I've upgraded the soft suspension but nothing else so far.

See your in Alabama; the wife and I were thinking about buying some property in Peidmont close to if not on the bicycle trail. We've put it on hold for a while.

You'll have fun with the trophy. Oh my neighbor has a Legend I found for him and he loves it.

Welcome. I live in central Mississippi and have been cruising on a Trophy 1200 since 1998. Great bike. If you have any questions there are several folks on here who know enough about the Trophy that they can most likely help out.

I thought that I had left my coil troubles behind but I can tell by some responses that this is a problem with the twin tower coils too. To make a long story short my dealer successfully interceded with Triumph North America I now have three new coils on my Legend (total of nine; three when new; three to replace those and three to replace those.) The explanation given about why they were defective is that they were hand wound up until 2003 or '04. After that they were machine wound. Supposed to make they fault free. The new ones I have were built in '05. So far they are fine. I used to think that hand built was better than machine built. Go figure. Glad to be on this side of the forum too as that means I have a bike I have coveted for the past two years.

Welcome Flybiker,

No coil problems so far on my bike. I've 20,000 on the clock. Tons of excellent info here.
Shhhhh, don't tell the others.....but emarld green Trophys are the most reliable.

What's the first accessory a Harley rider buys for his new bike?.....................................A TRAILER!!!!!!!!!!!!
: ): )
Cheers,
Tom.

Hi Stevumph, Even though the British Isles is the one place I would like to visit outside the U.S. I can find 318 curves in 11 miles at a place called "The Dragon." It is a legendary stretch of road that connects the western corner of North Carolina with the northeastern tip of Tennessee. It's great fun to ride but the Trophy is a bit long-legged to be of great use on it. More of a TT600 or S3 road. The Thruxton would also be great fun. I have a little piece of ground close by so I find myself up there quite often . Thanks for the invitation.
