The Haynes manual describes the differences between Trophy VIN's up to 29155 and from 29156.

Are these the last 5 digits of the frame VIN? My '01 has a build date of 10/00 and the last six digits of the VIN are 120193. So it appeared to me that I would refer to the "up to 29155" number, but -

the local dealer told me that I should refer to the "from 29156" reference due to a leading or trailing number that is left off or added on in the manual or by triumph.

I'm confused as to which number to reference and exactly as to why.

Does anyone know how the VIN should be interpreted?

I got the answer, thanks.

Triumph uses 5 digits in reference, up to the use of the 6th significant digit. A leading zero would have made sense to distinguish the two numbers. Just the way I think. Scary huh?
