I just bought a '97 Trophy 1200. 38-hundred miles on the odometer. I didn't really need another bike (we have ten in the garage) but I've been nostalgic for the brand ever since selling my '67 Bonneville back in 1977. Anyway, I've just run through my first tank of gas and was somewhat dismayed to see my mileage at about 30mpg. Admittedly, I was running it hard to get used to how it handles. We've got some incredible twisties here in the western side of Montana. Anyone check the mpg recently? What did you come up with?

I've been averaging about 38. I don't rev hard and like to keep the tach below 4K as a rule. (Except when I get on it - which isn't that often). I like the twisties but that doesn't require high revs.

Montana, The mileage you are gettiing is not out of the ordinary for the big Trophy. Last summer I put on 2300 miles on a trip to Florida and was disappointed to average between 30 and 31 mpg. I was hauling pretty good, running between 80-90 for the most part. Keep her below 4000 rpms if you want to get improved mileage. I am just glad for the 6.6 gal tank.
Good riding,

Hi,
I'm getting around 40mpg U.K Imperial.
My tank holds 5.5 Imp gallons if I remember correctly.

The best mpg I have had so far is 46mpg, this was riding with a pillion and with panniers mounted, although we were riding at lower speeds than usual (50mph ish).
