Hey all -
Found a 2002 w/only 750 miles on it. Weirdly, the original owner bought it, went bankrupt, then hid the bike for around two years. Finally the bank (or someone) found it and it was sold to a local car dealer who then sold it to another guy who owned it for 6 months before being laid off.
(Yes - I sprinkled it with holy water to remove any curse.)
I actually brought the bike back to the original dealer who initially sold it and he confirmed he had just serviced it (cleaned carbs and gas tank - gone through it and checked everything) and gave it a clean bill of health. In fact he said, "It's a great bike, the orignal owner had us put the D&D's on it, re-jet it and bought all the options (top-case, etc.) for it. It's a phenomenal bike."
Great says I! Got it home, off-loaded it, (sprinkled it with Holy Water) and took it out. Wow. I had a Connie years ago that I loved (a true sledgehammer). Then I had an FJR that I didn't love - too smooth, no personality - great bike, just not for me.
The Trophy seems to be just right (the pipes are about as loud as a Harley I used to run with Thunderheaders...) really comfortable, great torque, lots of personality, not common, etc.
The only thing I noticed right away was the buffeting. I thought it wouldn't bother me at 5'9" but I was wrong. What's the quick fix for the windscreen for shorter riders?
I did read all the strings but most of them deal with taller riders -what about the vertically challenged?
Thanks.
