Hello,
Great site! I'm a new member, and I've just bought my first Triumph, a 97 Trophy 900.
I was wondering if anyone out there has had any experience with aftermarket exhaust for this model? Any reccomendations? Thanks.

I would go with Staintune....

I had D&D and they were REALLY loud (louder than a sport bike with a loud pipe). I didn't feel the loud pipes matched the personality of the Trophy~ I added some additional baffles to the D&D pipes which made them slightly less loud- but still far too loud for me. If you are running the D&D pipes when you open the throttle people are going to stop, and turn around and look to see what is coming!

Both the D&D & the Staintunes are DRAMATICALLY lighter in weight than the stock system- I wouldn't be surprised to see that the bike lost 30 lbs... The Staintunes are slightly lighter than the D&D pipes.

The Staintunes are made of stainless and should last forever- you never need to repack them and you can just polish out any imperfections as time goes on. The workmanship is the best I have ever seen on a motorcycle exhaust this side of Akropovic- Staintune fits better than D&D too- There is a downside to Staintune, it is the price.... they are $$$$$

I have some pictures of the D&D and the Staintunes on my
website

I couldn't agree more.
If you can afford them, go with the Staintunes.
Absolutely top quality, you won't be dissapointed.

Having a set of D&Ds on my Daytona, I would recomend against them. They are too loud. The staintunes have always interested me, I would love to hear the sound out of them.

So, to post-jack, since I'm also in the market for an exhaust for my '96 Trophy 900, do either the D&D or the Staintune exhausts require rejetting?

I don't know about D&D, but the Staintunes doesn't require rejetting.

Both the D&D and Staintune are slip on muffler replacements, right? Are there any full system replacements?

Man I wish there were. I guess we are simply elite bike owners, which regretfully means aftermarket performance products will be hard to find, by name, for our bikes. I have D&D carbons on my 95, and have been looking for such things for about the last 4 years. There are some other cans out there, but hard to find a specific part # for 2002/2003 models. If you find more information than I do, please let me know. Right now I am looking to get Staintunes for a custom Trohpy, bored to about 1300. I don't imagine using a stock replacement for a 1200 of a previous year, with the big assed carbs I am using, will be ideal. Ho hum.
