QUick question guys, Do we know if the Rad on a Trophy '99 is a part no longer produced or is it the same as another model still in production?.

My bike is just too hot in the summer and I reckon the ony think I can do is replace the rad and its parts to handle any problem that may have crept up on me over the 52K the bike has done. I am also putting in Water Wetter, but if anyone else has any ideas I would really appreciate it.

How do you find out if its too hot? Is it just the fan, or is it the warning lamp?
If its the fan, I dont think its too hot, the fan startes to prevent it from getting to hot.
My fan kicks in in the summer when I`m riding slow in the city, but its not to hot yet, and I`ve never had my warning lamp in my display yet.

Thanks Tnorway for the response.

Truth is that with the city riding i do sometime the heat from the engine is almost unbearable. I have not had the light come on but it doesn't make sense. I know with it being a faring bike and all it will be a lot less likely to get rid of heat easy but i dont know... then fan does come on but maybe there is a bigger fan needed? It just seems that all the heat is pushed up to the rider...know what I mean?

Anyway I am just looking for ways to cool things down in the summer. Ive got no complaints in the winter.

Best,

Bob

My 97 trophy pumps the heat pretty good too. I think it's common with the sport tour bikes - Kawi Concours and others are warm rides. Luckily in Canada we only have a few weeks of really hot weather, the rest are just bad skiing!

Honestly, the Trophy IS a hot bike to ride in the summer. The way the fairings are shaped forces hot air directly at your legs, and unfortunately, there's not too much you can do about it. If you put on a bigger fan and/or speed up the stock one, all you'd end up doing is blowing even MORE hot air onto your legs...

I just bought a Sprint RS as well, and now I have a nice little digital temperature gage telling me how hot it gets... It's been up to 216 degrees F sitting in traffic. I'd imagine my trophy engine is probably getting around that same temp., which explains why it's so hot in the summer!

But really; there's not much you can do about it, other than what I did, and buy a naked bike for summer riding.

Never had this problem with my 1200 and I got the foot spoilers fitted. Yes the fan comes on during my commute to work but I don't feel excesive heat. Are all your fairing protectors in place, the rubber edging that sits next to the engine etc.
would the correct mixture of water and coolant have anything to do with it.
probably not but I thought I would through some thoughts in.
Ray

Hey guys thanks for the responses I get a better pictures of what I am dealing with. I guess I will just have to get used to it. Fortunately in the UK we don't have that much sun so...
