I have a '96 Trophy 900 that has 12,000 miles on it.All of a sudden this year it developed a bug.Every once in a while after a ride the headlights will stay on after I shut the bike off.It is only the headlights not any of the others.Sometimes if I start the bike and shut it off a few times it will go out.Lately I've had to pull the negitive terminal off the battery.Any ideas what could be causing this I've checked the wires and can't see any chaffed.I was wondering if it could be a bad ignition switch?
thanks for any help

Or the headlight relay has begun to go bad, and is sticking in the "on" mode. Just a thought.

Good Luck: Jim

Jim is probably right on the relay. I just looked at my manual and discovered that the bike has 2 relays for the headlights, one for low beam and one for high beam. Check it again and see if they'll go out on high beam. That will narrow things down considerably.
