My 2001 Trophy 1200 now in the shop for the following changes to reduce the radiating heat from the engine, for the South Carolina summer period. The following worked well with a FJR in Australia.
Changing coolant to straight distilled water and water wetter, changing oil to straight synthetic, running slightly rich with a one step hotter range of plugs, provided about a 35 degree drop on the engine block of the FJR.
Anyone over here, USA, have experience in this problem ? and a resolution to it ? Thanks for any input.

How hot is it running? I live about 10 miles from Greenville (in W. Pelzer) and I don't seem to have that problem with my '99 1200.

But then my last bike was a Concours and I had to keep my feet as far out on the pegs as possible to keep cool.

Have you tried using vent wings?

Hello neighbour, thanks for the comment and just starting to look at the wings used on the BMW's. I find that once moving it is OK but sit in the traffic in the middle of the day and the heat settles around the lower legs. The bike runs fine, should with only 12000 miles, and no sign of any overheating so went to Grady Miller and mentioned the fact I would like to reduce the heat and all that was said was that all riders of Tiumphs, FJR's and ST's with fairings suffer and complain about the same problem in summer around here and I should get used to it. So rang a mate at home, his ride is a the latest FJR, and the remedy I am about to use worked well on his "hotbox" in the heat there. You would think being an aussie I would be OK in heat but your combination of heat and humidity is way above what I am used to.
