I, as you can see ride an good ol Rice Burner (hey they have a pretty good following, of short people, though). I've, Definetly outgrown it & am looking for the right Sport Tourer so I can leave the bike, w/bags locked & enjoy the ride instead of having an achy back (Magna's seating position Sucks, for me anyway) . In my area I have several choices...Some used Concours, in addition to an 04; a variety of ST1100's; & an 02 Triumph Trophy 1200 w/5000+ miles on it. The owner hasn't ridden it since Sept., of last year, (legally) & are asking $8400-seems HIGH; It is @ a dlr on consignment. One of the used Concours, also an 02, w/just over 5000 miles on it, as well, is going for $6800 (or so). This one was a trade @ the dlr. The ST's are all overpriced & don't have a metal tank (I have magnetic tank bags & would rather not deal w/the hastle & expense of changing it). However I do like the V4 & think that Honda does make a good product in this area. So Basically is there anyone who's owned both the Concours & Trophy who can offer an opinion as they all seem to have thier little quirks & 'everyone seems to be saying that the Concours is the best ride for the $$$. . I'm really used to & like, the shaft drive, so going to a chain is a tough change. The Trophy has a little front right side dmg. do to the owner hitting the brakes to hard on some gravel. It also comes w/a trunk bag & heated grips. I did submit an offer today of $6000 & my Magna as the Kbb has a Trade-in value of $5500. & a Sugested Ret. of $7900 (the NADA is $6300) So w/the dmg. & the fact that he's letting it sit & 'loosing" $$$$ This offer is a fair one. He may have some left to pay but @ least a majority of the debt is relieved. HELPPPPPPPP..... :???:

About 2 months ago I sold my '86 Concours with 102K miles on it. I'm now riding a '99 Trophy 12. The sport touring bikes feels so much better on my back that I couldn't go back to a cruiser if I wanted to (the Shadow just got sold). Either bike, in my opinion, is a great choice. They are bullet proof bikes. I went with the Trophy for the looks and the ego part of it. I am completely in love with the bike.

I had a 700 Magna some time ago and I can't see how anyone can stay cramped like that for any length of time but the V65 is better.

The prices seem high for the bikes you are looking at but that may be the going prices on the west coast. I've had great success with ebay - both buying and selling. I paid $5,000 last month for my '99 with 13,000 miles on it and put a Corbin seat on it which greatly improved the seating.

Good luck with your search! :-)

I bought my Trophy 900, a used 1996 model w/ 12,000 miles on it, a month and a half ago. I upgraded from a 1985 Honda Nighthawk.

My reasons for upgrading are pretty much the same as yours. Well, I bought my bike in Laramie Wyoming, and rode it home in two days to Louisville, KY, about 1300 miles. Even after not riding at all this past winter, there was absolutely no pain or discomfort during the cross country trip. My Trophy has a stock seat; stock everything, so far as I can tell. So let me tell you, this bike is extremely comfortable for the long ride.

Purchased an 03 Trophy 1200 this year just done 2k over a week in France with guys on various other bikes who got off at each stop like little old men I could have done another 200 fresh it was also superb in the twisty bits turns in and grips like a sports bike even with full luggage and some .
Only complaint was the low speed weight and manouvering out of parking spaces as i am a weedy git with an artificial hip.
Highly recomended Drew

Well I took the plunge and purchased a 96 Triumph Trophy. You can see some pictures of it below. Thanks for the help everyone. It looks like we will enjoy the Trophy a bunch.
