I just purchased a 2002 Trophy 1200 with a stock windscreen that measures 18" from the base to the top. Does anyone know how much taller the optional taller Triumph windscreen is? My local Triumph dealer says the tall screen is no longer available but I'm hopeful I can track one down.

My last bike was a Kawi Concours which I was able to buy a taller Rifle replacement screen to give me much improved wind protection. To my surprise Rifle doesn't make a taller screen for the Trophy.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to who might make or sell a taller than stock windscreen.

I agree with Scott, the Clearview is an excellent choice for a taller windshield. I purchased the tallest they had, if memory serves me right it was around 4" inches taller. The best part was the quality and price(around $160 back in 2003). It is an excellent and affordable upgrade.

Manny,
There is an add on called a Laminar Lip, about half the price of the clear view. I bought one. I wasn't impressed with it myself, it did get rid of some of the buffeting, noise diminished a bit, but i found it pulled me towards the screen, weird aerodynamics gismo.
Paul, does that mean you are now looking thru' the screen. has it completely eliminated wind buffeting, is it any quieter? forgive all the questions but I'm thinking or investing in one myself.

I was also trying to decide between the Lip and a Clearview 4" extended windshield. The Clearview has quite a leadtime so I better decide soon if that is the direction I'm to go.
Manny & Freddy-I'm in Milwaukee every weekend and just bought a '00 Trophy 1200. Look forward to meeting you guys once it reaches 45-50 degrees-John

I bought a Laminar Lip for my '96 (which has a later windshield, the kind they used until '02 I think) and it's pretty useless. Didn't fit worth a darn and I had to drill holes and use nylon fasteners because the Velcro wouldn't hold it. Still only raises the shield about 1.5" and raises the turbulence about the same amount - not enough. I'll either put in clear extensions to raise it more, or just get a Clearview (which I should've done in the first place).

I want to thank all who responded to my request for help finding a taller windscreen for my Trophy. I just orderred the extra large (+4 inch) Clearview windscreen, with the vent holes and the vent holes trim kit. The cost was $212 but the product pics and design looked good. I was told to expect delivery in 4 weeks.

I also purchased Gen-Mar risers for $117 and received them in less than a week.

When I get them both installed I will let you all know how well they work with my 5-10" frame.

About the Clearview windscreen,

I was very impressed with their return policy. I orderred the +4" screen but their policy is that once you install it on your bike and take a ride, if your not happy with the heigth, ie. too tall or too short, you can return it and exchange it for a new one and get a full credit.

Clearview apparently applies a clear peel off protective plastic to protect the screen. If you can send it back to them without scratching the screen or damaging the packaging material they will exchange it.

You really can't beat that!

Bob, I am a bit behind in your questions about the Clearview but as far as visibility, my sight is actually just below the top of the fairing if I am sitting in a relaxed position. If I am driving in rain and need to look over the fairing I can easily do that by sitting more upright. I am 6'3" and was a little nervous when I bought it that my sight level would be right at the top of the fairing. I actually prefer to look through the fairing and that is how it works for me, especially with the stock saddle. The Corbin I have raises me up just a bit but I am close the same sight level. Wind protection is better however noise is not reduced due to the air vents cut into the Clearview. Buffetting is similar to stock despite the taller height of the Clearview.

Eagle screens in australia has great screens, too. clearview had to wait 4 weeks and was $50 more
I just bought a 4inch higher screen and it was delivered in two weeks. $150. price depends on shipping.

pics available.

I'm taller. I just rode 1800 miles in the rain and it's very good.
