Just getting ready to order a Triumph Gel Seat for my '96 Trophy 1200 before I ride across the country. Anybody have any good or bad comments before I buy?
Also, what about the Clearview windscreen?
Hopping the bike up before the long ride.
Thanks!

I cannot comment on the trophy gel seat but i bought the triumph one for my Tiger (as many other Tiger riders have done) and it makes a huge difference. Much better than stock.

I have a 02 Trophy 1200 and have used a Clearview shield for the past season. I have the large one and I love it. For the price (around $160) I was very impressed. I have been to Florida with it from Milwaukee and it was well worth it. The ease of installation was another strong point.
Good riding,
Freddy

The Clearview does decrease the noise but with the 2 vents cut out in the shield there is also air flow that helps in summer but not in cold weather riding. I do a lot of riding without a helmet and it does seem quieter. One other thing, I am 6'3 and my eyes are below the top of the shield. Vision is excellent because the shield is so well crafted.
About the gel seat. I was thinking of getting a gel pad for my saddle but have been waiting. Now I see a air cushion that is highly rated in this months Motorcycle Consumer News. I can't think of the brand name and I don't have the magazine with me. I think it was Aero? I will check it out later. It is expensive but looks like an easy solution for anyone looking for better comfort without modifying or replacing the saddle.

DJR commented earlier about the one fitted to his Tiger. He seems to like it a lot. I have a Corbin on my Trophy and I can't say enough good about it, though I have heard people complain about the hardness of the seat. I have mostly heard positive comments about the gel seats.

I don't have a Trophy (yet) but I have had a gel seat on other bikes. Personally, I don't like Gel seats at all. It feels like I'm sitting on a package of raw liver. I'd muc hrather save up the cash and get a custom seat from Rick Mayer, Bill Mayer or Russell. They are not much more than Corbin, and unlike Corbin and the Gel seat, they are custom made to you - from photos and information you give on your size, inseam, riding position etc.
Rick Mayer:

Bill Mayer:

Russel:

I don't think you can go wrong with any of these three. They are worh the price, to me at least. The bike I'm looking at already has a Corbin, so I probably won't be getting one for a Trophy any time soon though.

Okay folks, I ordered both the Triumph Gel Seat and Clearview windscreen (hope I get to the mail and my Visa bill before my wife!). The Gel Seat is in and seems to be of good qualify. Very firm and doesn't have that "squishy" feel as stated from the previous post. The screen will be in this week and then I'm off Saturday for a two-week, 3,000 mile jaunt to San Fran via Phoenix. When I get back I'll definately have an opinion about both!
