So long, all, bought a bonneville...
Well, I traded in my '02 Trophy 1200 on a new T100 and that's the forum I'm headed to. Thanks for all the good times on this one. I'll miss the "big one" but my back and legs are going to enjoy the new one. Take care, everyone.

Enjoy. Glad it is a good fit for you. We'll miss you. I went the other way and got rid of my Bonnie and moved to the roomy Trophy because of my back and legs! Go figure ...

Why not stay on this forum for awhile longer and give us your riding impressions/comparisons between the Trophy and Bonneville. I had thought of the Bonneville as more of a city cruiser but a good friend of mine bought one for his wife this year and I've been on a couple of three day rides with them. We cruised @70-75mph mostly with good passing power at these speeds and she also had a better cruising range than I expected. I was impressed.
Enjoy your new toy

Hi, Doug: Good idea, I'll do that. Now if this storm will just get itself over with, I'll be able to bring it home and ride it.

Wow, by "this storm" do you mean Hurricane Sandy? Some storm. It's a good thing the bike is still sheltered at the dealer.
I do want to see photos and I'll be looking for your riding impressions.
FWIW, I'm keeping my Trophy, for the forseeable future.

Im interested in seeing what you think of the Bonnie after riding a Trophy,I tried a 07 Scrambler but it just didnt suit me somehow, they de-tune the Scramblers a good amount and it just didnt have the steam I needed. The rear shocks also kicked my ass, literally.
The Trophy was a fit from the first ride for me.

I'm glad someone else has said that. I changed the rear springs for adjustable Hagons, put progressive fork springs in and had the seat re-profiled with extra foam to try and get a comfortable ride on the Bonnie.

I owned an '04 Thruxton, and it was barely tolerable as far as power. I also owned an '08 Scrambler, and it was pathetic in comparison.
To the OP - The Bonnie should be okay solo, just don't expect serious thrust from it unless you're prepared to spend a lot on mods. The Bonnie doesn't weigh that much less than the Trophy (35-40 lbs), so the 40 extra horses the Trophy has make it a LOT quicker.
Oh, and my Scrambler never got better fuel mileage (than the Trophy), and the tank is more than 2 gallons smaller.
Enjoy your new ride.
