speedo cable?

my speedo has stopped working out of the blue and suspect the cable, undo it from the front tyre end and cleaned a bit of gunk out and twisted it around with aid of screw driver to see if it worked and no result ....

so now is my problem taking it off from the speedo end with out taking off all the fairings etc as to be honest not that good. tried to get an adjustable spanner in there but struggled.

any ideas?

You should be able to grab it with some pliers. Did you take the black inner fairing off?

no mark, think i could reach in with pliers though .... i presume just twist it off? or does it unscrew?

do like my trophy but just a pain to have to take the fairings off for most repairs, and obviously when it goes to the garage most of the labour is taking the fairing on and off.

The speedo cable unscrews from the bottom of the gauge. You do have to "get the feel" for positioning your hand and arm right but it can be done without removing any of the fairing. I found this out when twice my speedo stopped working and it turned out to be the female threaded nut holding the cable in place vibrated loose from the gauge. The first time it happened it took awhile cursing while I felt around but the second time it only took a few minutes to screw it back into place and then get some pliers on it.
