Where is the Engine Number?

Maybe I need better glasses, but where is the engine number usually printed?

I have a 2001 Trophy 1200.

Bike bandit says I have a choice of rubber carbs to head depending on engine number for engine 55616 & higher, and for engine 55615 and lower.

Cheers

The engine number is on a small 'flat' (maybe 2" x 3/8") just above the clutch cover on the top/right side of the engine block - at least that's where it is on all of the Hinckley Triumphs I own (or have owned).

The easy way to tell which carb boots you need is by looking at the carbs: lower motor number will correspond to Mikunis, higher will correspond to Kiehins.

FoothillRyder is correct about the number's location, but a couple years of outside parking is all it takes to render that number illegible.

Cheers,
-Kit

Noddy,
All the 1200's have the Mikuni carbs. Grey and Black 1200's use the same carb to head rubbers. Bike Bandit part # 1378819.
Make sure when your looking at the Bike Bandit schematics, that you are looking at the 4cyl and not the 3cyl. Early 3cyl used Mikuni's, later used Keihin's.

Happy Trails,
Erv

Thanks a bunch. The number was so faded it was touch and go what it actually read. We put some paper over the number to trace it and guessed the number. Your BB # confirms our choice. Phew!
