i just bought a 1998 trophy and much to my dismay i found out it has a small oil leak. it looks as if it is leaking around the output shaft (sprocket end) i have not taken the cover off yet but it looks as if this is where it is coming from. can this seal be replaced without breaking down the case?........also how many miles can i expect from a set of brake pads. thanks for any help you can give on this matter.

Are you sure it's an oil leak? chain fling can collect in this area and look like an oil leak

it sounds like the sprocket shaft seal to me i just had mine replaced after believing it was chainlube, they had to replace the seal and bushing together what happens is chain gets too tight and forces the seal and bushing to wear on one side causing a leak good luck

thanks to all for the info on this oil leak....upon further in investigation i found it was the output shaft oil seal so i did put a new one in.......i haven't ridden it yet so i hope this was all it was.hopefully the shaft bearing is o.k. (i guess if it is bad it could cause the seal to fail prematurely) thanks again!!!

I changed my '96 1200 rear pads at 12k and just changed my fronts at 21k (backs still look good). Put sintered (sp?) on both.
