I am sure that this question must be old by know however I don't see it covered in the 16 pages on this forum.

So here it goes;

When you refer to a triumph 3 or 4 are you referring to the number of cylinders or is there a sequencing by year involved.

I ask as I purchased a 1996 trophy 1200 about a month ago and figure I had better increase my knowledge base.

One other question has to do with the preload adjuster for the rear suspension. It looks like I will need to remove the tank to access this. Is that the case.

Thanks in advance for any responses.

Rick

ps. I love the bike.

My '96 only has rebound adjuster at the bottom of the shock and the notched lock-ring for setting preload spring tension, also at the the bottom. Both can be reached -- with some difficulty -- from the backside in front of the tire. Might be easier with the rear tire off, but removing the tank uncovers nothing on my bike.

Has your shock been upgraded?
