Just completed a trip across the northwest. Four Weeks, 9200 miles, 12 states, 2 provinces and numerous national parks. Trophy ran great. Changed tires in Calgary. Replaced turn signal broken off by deer in Montana, rear brake pad and shift linkage seal in San Francisco.

a few trip pics in no particular order...

Can't imagine how this happened, but it sounds like a really close call to me.... :wow:

Now that is a trip. I just back back from a run out to the beautiful Bighorn Mts in Wyoming and the bike ran flawless as expected. My 2600 miles in 6 days would be a walk in the park for you. I ran into a BMW rider in North Dakota who was on a 3 week journey. He had been to British Columbia from Pennslyvania. There are a few of us out there who really live to ride. Saw a lot of bikes on the road due to the early departing Sturgis traffic. Did not see ONE other Trophy, however. It is TRULY an original.

Ride on.

I must have hit a pretty hard glancing blow, but at the time I thought the wobble was due to a last second control input or rear wheel slide/fishtail. There was no time to see what happened to the deer, too busy keeping the bike up. Only when I stopped for a pic 30 minutes later did I notice the missing turn signal. It was cracked clean off around the base which takes some force. Deer and other animals are the major hazard on a trip like this. Even taking all precautions its something of a crapshoot.

In 9200 miles and 4 weeks I only saw 1 other trophy. During that time I had 4 rest days with little or no riding. My longest day was 885 miles between Chama NM and Dallas. Most of my days were 250-400 miles. My longest day ever is 997 miles in 17 hours.

The seal had already been leaking, but after 3000 miles it got worse and I lost 1/3 quart oil by 5800 miles, so I decided to have a San Jose dealership replace it during my rest days. Something else still leaks, but not enough to noticeably lower the oil level over the remaining 3400 miles.
