As I was riding on the highway, the black plastic strip on the screen of my 99 trophy 900 can off. At the time I decided it wasn't worth dodging 90 mile an hour traffic to go back for it. Does that piece of plastic do anything to reduce wind noise or bufferting? Or is it a fashion accessory?

Supposed to help with air flow diversion but I have tried the screen with and without and did not find a noticable difference. :???:

I figured it was to help keep from busting the windscreen if it was cold out.

I think there might be a safety reason too, covering a sharp edge. I just thought of that because of the scar above my right eye from contacting a windshield a few years ago in an accident. When I hit , the wind shield rode up under my faceshield on the helmet and struck me there.

I am so glad to know that I didn't lose a major piece of technology. I thank everyone for the input. I guess I can save my $100 for the replacement.

My black trim is laying in the intersection of TX HWY 71 and Montopolis blvd in Austin, right next to my left turnsignal, some green paint, and a little skin from my left arm.....Well at least it was about 8months ago......

I bet the R&D person who spent a year developing the piece of black plastic on the screen will be upset. Look what we've done to his master invention.
