I ride very defensively, but after being cut off once again by a Q-tip, louder pipes don't seem like a bad idea. Note that I said louder, not frigging Harley straight pipe stupid loud!! Living in Colorado, it seems no pipes are considered too loud or too offensive for some riders; I'm just not one of them. Stain tune pipes are a little more than I want to spend. The D&D are more reasonable but I've never heard any in person. So the real question is how loud is too loud? keeping in mind my morning commute begins at 04:30!!! Anyone with D&D's got any comments?

I had a set on mine. Note HAD. They aren't bad until you get above 4500RPM, then they scream! I had to ride with ear plugs and my hearing isn't that great to start with. If you want loud thats the way to go. I personnally found them obnoxitious and thus removed them. They basically made my trips less comfortable.

I had them on my 01 VStar 650.

I got stopped in town by our local police chief because they were so loud.

One of my riding buddies has them on his roadstar, and I can hear him start his bike, if I am outside. He lives 6 blocks away.

You will need earplugs.

I had them on my 1200 Daytona and they were loud. Too loud for my taste. I can say your neighbors will not appreciate them at 4:30 in the morning.

Mine came with D&Ds, which sounded really cool and really loud. One has a small rust hole at the front seam, but I don't think it made that much of a difference. I put the stockers back on. If you wanna try em out, I'll be glad to send them to you for shipping.

Thanks for all the info guys and the offer for the trial pipes but, they sound too loud for me!! Maybe if my neighbors piss me off I'll get some, but not for now. Guess I'll just have to keep looking out for inattentive drivers.

That's the case no matter what pipes you've got on.

There is a post in here about drilling out you factory pipes. I think it was a 3/4" hole saw and an extention.

How is the sound of the 1200 with pipes? Is it smooth, rough, raspy, deep.....? The stock exhaust is too quite to really tell how its going to sound.

One other question on the exhaust topic, is there a 4 to 1 exhuast system available, and is anyone running one? If so, please give some details. I like to ride in the lower rpm range and I think 4to1 system would be a better choice for me.

Chad-

Just go RICEboy and drill holes in it! yeah man cool! Only cost's 2 dollars for a drill bit and bam your on your way to looking and sounding cool with your bangin exhaust!

I knew a guy that had dNd's on his cbr 600f4i and it was LOUD. I have a yoshi tri-oval on my r6 and it is loud enough for me.
