I just joined this site tonight after finding it during my web search for chain adjustment info for my 2002 Trophy 1200.

My question is, "What is the specified torque for tightening the eccentric adjuster bolts after the chain is adjusted?"

Any other helpful hints on adjusting the chain would be welcomed also.

Thanks,
Tim

Hi Tim

The torque spec for the eccentric adjuster clamp bolts is 36Nm.

I have a 1995 Trophy 4, these really are great do anything bikes. If you have any more questions about your Triumph this site is the place to ask. We are lucky to have such a site avalable. Thanks to Mick and Shawn

What's in Youre tool kit?

I'm new here and I purchased my 1st Triumph just last week. Love my 97 Trophy 1200 but what's up with the chain adjustment? Had lot's of bikes but this is my first "eccentric adjuster". It took quite a search to find a 12mm hex and the dealer (authorized Triumph) told me he couldn't get me one and that it didn't come in the tool kit. OKI found one but now cannot loosen the clamp adjuster (8mm) cause there's not enough room to turn a standard (in the tool kit) hex key (mufflers/wheel) Even if I'm overlooking something simple, I'd love to have some feedback on how to adjust the chain. Thanks for being here! This is a great resource and a friendly crowd!...Andrew;

Try Sears or Northern for a set of hex wrenches in metric sizes, not too expensive

I'm sitting at work so I don't have access to my Trophy but I have adjusted the chain a couple of times. I didn't have any trouble accessing the bolts even with the silencers in place. I can assure you that I would not move the muffler to turn the hex screws. I used the short leg of the wrench and made short turns until the screws were loose. Doesn't take much. I had already bought two 12 mm wrenches and use them at the same time. NAPA has these wrenches for about $5 each. This is the easiest chain adjuster ever made. I wished everyone used this type adjuster.

You can stick the long end of the allen wrench into the screw and use the factory spack plug socket on the short end to turn the allen wrench and that should clear the top of the muffler. At least it does on mine.
