Perhaps I'm mistaken but I'm pretty sure I've read that they are useless on the Trophy as the attach to the fairing frame which isn't strong enough.

If its just paint protection that's needed, you could have the lower part of the fairing coated with a "chip-guard" type of coating. I had mine done that way and its helped on the times that I've done a "stupid" and dropped it at dead stops. The coating also helps prevent stone chips, which is what it's original purpose was. Not much help if you happen to "throw it down the road", however.

Just my 2 cents worth: Jim

Just dropped mine for the second time last weekend, fairly light damage but the bracket that connects with the lower fairing from the frame was bent to buggery and is proving a swine to realign so not sure if crash bungs would be much help. A new main fairing panel is just over 200 sovs including vat from On Yer Triumph which by today's standards is extremely reasonable. I got away with a new indicator unit and a tube of genuine Triumph touch up paint for £40. Would be cheaper to not drop it I suppose...

On this side of the pond, the panel is $350 and $55 for the turnsignal.

I was able to bend my bracket back, but it took quite a few tries...cs

Are turn signals hard to come by for 2001s in Canada. I just did the dumb move. Kick stand was not not fully extended when I leaned the bike over. Down went the bike and my pride. A few scratches on the hard bag and the left light is done. Everyting else is fine.

So why does this happen only when there are large crowds of bikers around?

To all,

I am glad to see I am not the only one to drop this bike at stand still or park. Thanks for making me feel a little better about it. I will try to have a better relationship with my bike in the future.

Can't say I've done that, but I once was talking to someone while standing next to my old bike while it was running, had my right hand on the left grip and foot on the left peg. I guess I bumped it down into 1st and it took off rolling in my garage. Somehow managed to get the clutch pulled in without dropping it, and it didnt hit my car either, which was more of a concern that the bike itself. Man did I feel stupid.
