Hello everyone,
I have a 1996 Trophy 1200. I hit the starter button the other day to start the bike and the starter engaged, but then would not dis-engage. I turned the key off, took the key out, and flipped the kill switch, but the starter was still engaged. I had to disconnect the battery to get it to stop. Now when I reconnect the battery the starter does not engage, in fact nothing comes on, but there is something pulling a draw from the battery for when I touch the positive lead to the positive post on the battery I get a few sparks and the lead is trying to weld itself to the battery post. I have already taken the ignition switch apart and the plastic button was broke and the spring may have moved enough to make contact thus keeping the starter from dis-engaging. But that does not explain the current draw from the battery or why it kept trying to start when the key was turned off.
Anyone have any ideas as to what I should check now?
Thanks!
Rob
