Just try google with "Triumph Trophy for sale" and you will see a number of web sites to brouse. I see several Trophy's for sale, but not near Chicago and some of the ads are out-of-date. You just have to start clicking away and verifying what is still current.

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&s...trophy&aqi=g10

As to other sites, www.CraigsList.com is sometimes good to check.

Look far and wide

Hey Man,

Check out the 1200 that Tod and Darcy have in Janesville (WI.) They (Team Triumph) will treat you VERY right. To the best of my knowledge... a 900 is a 1200 with one cylinder added. The bike changed very little over the years. It was "re-designed" in 99? (help me out here guys) minor changes... The fairing and some other small differences.

I had an 02' 1200. Lovely machine!. A bit top heavy, and quite the sail in a direct (strong) cross-wind. Fuel consumption was a issue with my bike. I was lucky to get 34mpg. Avg.
You need to check this forum for milage on the 900, it may well be better. A Trophy is a Daytona in touring disguise...Literally.

Good Luck, and Cheer's,

Tom.

Craig's List Worked for Me

I looked at the 20 largest metro areas Craig's List. April/May of 2009 there were several available. Thanks to this forum and the integrity of Dwight (the guy in Nashville from whom I bought the bike) I had a great experience. Bike was in beautiful condition (1996 with 42,000 miles) and was also British Racing Green, the fastest color.

Drove it home in mid-July and now it's got 47,000 miles on it. I have an ambitious maintenance plan for the winter but I'll be on it until ice blesses our roads.

Send me a personal email if you want more details about how I did this transaction. It might sound scary or risky but lots of us purchase bikes from far away (the further the better) and then drive them home.

thakns guys
i will do some hunting and see what I can find.

I gotta ask though- Obviously, these bikes are older...
Being that they are ST bikes, having 30,000+ miles on the odometer is ok right?

I average 9000 miles a year, so 30,000 or 40,000 doesnt bother me, but ive honestly never purchased a bike w/ that many miles before- so im just checking....

Bought Mine with 42K on it. Expect to see 100K miles.

There's forum members reporting 60K, 70K, 80K miles. I have heard from a couple of guys with over 100K miles.

I bought a 98 1200 Trophy with 16,300 miles on it this past summer, basically sight unseen. It was 9 hours away and I wasn't really thinking I would leave without buying it. Unless there was some "real" deal breaker going to happen, which did not. I paid $4100 for it. The only issue was that it had been laid over while the previous owner was waiting to pull out on a mountain road. Some road rash and a few issues with fairings needing adjustment which I discovered after getting home. No bid deal but I would have wished he would have been a little more forthcoming. Really my fault. I didn't ask enough questions.
I've read on this forum about Trophys with lots of miles on them and still running well. There is a lot of respect for the engine.
It is quite a lot of motorcycle.
Good luck.
