fuel lines

Took my tank of today to get a look at the the stuff below (air filter, coils etc) and noticed that there was only one fuel hose going from the fuel tap to the carbs. The other was attached to the fuel tap but cut to about 6 inches and blanked of at the other end.

One of the previous owners is responsible - but why would they do this and what effect would it have on the fueling of the bike?

One is for the ON position and the other is for the Reserve position. Is the petcock in the On position and is the smaller vac. hose attached to the petcock and to the #3 carb?

Ah - OK. The petcock is in the ON position and the vac line is attached to the #3 carb. Does that mean that the reserve is redundant currently?
I will be renewing all the hoses anyway - thanks for the reply.

johnnymo,

First, you don't say what year or size your Trophy is.
I believe all the 900's have a single fuel line from the tap to the carbs. 1200's have two fuel lines from the tap to the carbs.
If yours is a 900, then the fuel tap may have been replaced with one for a 1200, if that is the case....no prob if one of the lines is blocked off.

Hope this helps,
Erv
