Trophy tank, electrics question on fuel sender
Ahoy; I have a 02 Thunderbird, but acquired a Trophy tank - year uncertain, but from a 900 - after checking that with some modification (there was a TB frame sitting nearby, luckily) it could be made to mount.
Now, the Trophy tank has a fuel level sender - two conductors. My dash is currently all digital, and I'd prefer to not add an analog guage. I -suspect- that it probably connects to ground on one conductor, and the other passes through a meter to 12v - or perhaps the meter's inline with the ground, either way.
My questions are this, then: what's the basic config? Which conductor goes to ground, which to the meter? If any of you are so willing, could you hook up a voltmeter in place of your analog guage, and give rough readings? (Ideally full, midlevel, empty)... I'm hoping that a properly spec'd digital voltmeter might take the guage's place.
Also, are there any third-part caps which ditch the need for the key? (I have the key, but would prefer to not need one for this task)
