I can get a pair of GTS tyres for £125 if I fit a 180/55 rear. The price goes up to £150 if I want a 170/60 Has any one tried a 180/55 on a 1200 Trophy? The rim size is ok but I was wondering if there was enough clearance on the swingarm.

I'd spend the extra 25 pounds and get the proper size. On my Trophy the chain, inner fender and tire run pretty close as is, I don't know if the extra 10mm would make much differance overall but I'd guess it would affect the handling at best, at worst it would rub here and there. Then spend the 150 anyway or be stuck with an ill-handling bike till the tire wears out.

150 pounds (we don't have a pound symbol on our keyboards here) seems like alot for a tire, thats right about $205. I think. :-D

Hi there,
My 96 1200 has a 180/55/17 on the back from the PO and all seems well. For the first 3k anyhow.
