Oil Cooler Removal Help Needed

I've chopped my 1200 trophy up and converted it to a 4 cylinder Thunderbird. It looks great except for the ugly great oil cooler on the front.
I want to remove it, I've been told that I can just remove it and blank the oil supply and return holes with bolts and washers.
Any ideas or warnings before I do this.
Because the bike now has no fairings my theory is that it should run cooler and could run without the oil cooler, It's not used for long journey's but just for bar hopping and Sunday ride outs.

I would be inclined to keep the oil cooler or replace it with a better looking one. The 1200 engine has a twin rotor oil pump. One rotor sends oil around the engine , the other pumps oil through the oil cooler and then back to the sump. If you do remove the cooler it would be best to link the flow and return pipes so that the pump is not trying to pump oil up a dead end. Also remember that removing the cooler will reduce the amount of oil in the engine so the remaining oil will get pumped around more often and therefor get hotter.
Hope this helps!
Jeff.

I removed the cooler from my '96 Daytona 900 when I converted it to a Speedtriple look.
I too wanted the clean look and had no trouble with the temperature.
I just remove it completely and bought a link tube line. You can get one from any '91 to '96 Triumph models that do not have a cooler from stock. (Thunderbird Sport, Speedtriple, Tiger)
Just to name a few....

Hope this Helps.
