Heavy Throttle Pull

My '96 1200 has a heavy throttle pull that causes my hand to hurt after long rides. I noticed there are two springs used to return the throttle. Can I just disconnect one of the springs?

Have you taken it apart and inspected the cable? it could be frayed? Or perhaps just in need of a cleaning and lube.

If the throttle works and it's simply a fatigue issue, consider a Throttlemeister cruise control.

It's more than a fatigue issue, the pull is harder than it should be. I have ridden other Trophies that did not have the hard throttle pull. The bike has a Throttlemeister, but the vibrations and hard throttle pull at higher speed cause it to loosen. I rode 1200 miles to bring the bike home and my hand hurt for a week. I guess I need to pull the cable and lube it first.
