Hello,
I just got my 96 Trophy 1200, and the front forks seem a little nervous. Not enough to warrant calling it headshake, but it is still unnerving. After a quick two up ride, it seemed to be worse with a pillion. I was wondering if anyone has slid the forks further up triple trees to decrease the rake. Let me know what you think, since my Clymer is in the mail.
Thanks for the sweet site!

Hi Brgtrophy

I have a 1995 1200 Trophy and it felt a little nervous to when I ran the air pressure at Triumph spec. I dropped the pressure about four lbs. and WOW what a difference the bike really felt planted. Try adjusting the air pressue abit and let us know.

Just for the record, did you check the steering head bearings, wheel bearings and swingarm for play? Also check the tires for unusual wear. I had the problem you describe on an older BMW and it was solved by fitting new tires. Just a few suggestions before you do anything drastic.

Good Luck: Jim

I agree with Jim on this one. I would check all the things he mentioned first before messing with sliding the forks further up.

This forum is the best. Both tires were 40 psi. Now that they are at 36 psi, it feels way more solid. I guess I took for granted that the dealer I bought from would have tire pressure right. Shame on me!
Thanks to all!

My 95 1200 trophy had a slight headshake problem at about 40mph which was solved by snugging up the head bearings slightly. Seemed to help front tire wear also.
