It's helpful to have the new seal in your hands before removing the old one ( to get an idea of how it is.)
[If you're special ordering the seal and paying for shipping, you might consider buying two. If this is something your dealer is order, just order the one.]
There is a lip/surface behind the seal (what it butts up against ), so you want to be careful with whatever you punch thru the seal to pull out that you don't punch too hard/far and nick the lip/surface.
I actually used a small screw to start, then put a larger screw in and pulled... with a little bit of flat blade screwdriver thrown in the mix.
If you end up doing the clutch-pushrod seal, note that there is NOT a lip/surface behind it and you can push that seal in too far.
If you've never removed the cover before, be patient getting the highlighted bolt out. It's a bitch, but just fiddle with it and it will come out. Also note that there are dowels on the cover. Once you get all the bolts off (including clutch cylinder), the cover will be hanging onto the dowels. It can take some force to get the cover off because the dowels sorta pinch it in there.
Be sure the dowels are in and aligned when re-installing the cover.
If they are not, you can have the clutch-pushrod mis-aligned (slightly) and that can cause that seal to have issues.
these were the photos I couldn't post in the above posting (too many photos in single post)
If you've never had the sprocket cover off, be prepared for gunk -- but don't assume that's the "oil leak" either.
Again, the yellow lines on this photo were the seals I replaced.
The oil manifested itself by the red circle ( gear shifter ).
