Headlight Assembly Help

I hit a bird at 85 MPH this weekend. It hit right on the right lens of my '01 1200.It cracked the hell out of the lens, didn't break it and the light still works.I figured I'd just have to buy a new lens. However it appears from my shop manual that the headlight assembly is one unit, probably quite expensive and that I'll probably have to tear all kinds of bodywork apart just to get at it.Does anyone have any experience with this?

Here is link on the new part, you might call Baxter's and see if they have a used unit.

You'll only need to remove the front fairing piece, the sides can stay in place. A second set of hands will be helpful while you disconnect some wires from the relay pack and headlight. You'll also need to unscrew the beam adjusted that's located in the right fairing pocket.

The headlights are an assembly, and well it might be possible to replace a lens, the assembly's are on ebay fairly often. At a considerable savings from Triumphs pricing.

Just make sure to get a North American spec'd part, as other countries have their dip beam opposite ours.

Another option would be to glue a piece of lexan over the broken lens while you're searching for a replacement. At least you can keep riding till the parts come together.

Wildbill, I'll check the shelf, I think I have a lens, maybe the entire assembly. I'll let you know.

headlight lens

The lens is a separate part from the headlight unit. I have one in need of a new home.
