Well..... I told a buddy about the bike and it interested him enough to contac the seller to arrange an appointment.
The bike is in great shape, there's a bit of oil down on the bottom of the sump, but no other leaks found. I figure I'll trace it back to it's origin and take care of it easily enough.
It hadn't been started in months. The tank was dry, so I added a half gallon of gas, checked all the fluids and primed the engine before firing it off.
It needs some carb work, it won't idle without the choke on full and if you turn the throttle the engine dies. I had the same issue with my T-Bird, so it's carb rebuild time, then a sync. No problem.
It has a touring windscreen, Conti Road Attack tires in good shape and some crappy D&D exhaust on it, and the rest is stock.
I talked the guy down to $2200, he threw in a brand new $200 Scorpion helmet, never worn and still in the box. I told my buddy if he decided he didn't want the bike, I was going to buy it. He couldn't get his check book out fast enough.
I figure I'll spend the weekend going through it and making sue the valve shim clearance is good, clean out the tank and carbs, lube the cables and flush the brake and clutch fluids, and it should be ready to go.
I can't wait to take my first ride on it!!! Maybe I won't give it back and just send him pictures of his bike from around the country.....
