H.I.D. lights

I am thinking of buying an H.I.D. kit for my trophy. Has anybody done this and what are your thoughts. I would only be getting one bulb.

Heat. The socket and surrounding plastics may not be able to stand the extra heat. Then again I'm not sure they get much hotter than the stock bulbs.

Carry on!

From what I've read HIDs are 35w after the ballasts get things going. The light output is equivalent to 150w w/o the heat. There is a company in GB that manufactures a 55w HID conversion kit. I'll see if I can track it down.

Two downsides: in some states HID conversion kits are illegal because the refractor/reflector isn't designed for HID output (too much light scatter) and if you convert the high beam you have significant lag time until the bulb is at full brightness.
