I have a 1999 900 trophy ... My petrol guage is fluctuating ...When i switch ignition on gauge stays at zero for about 10 seconds then "Bounces" slowly from stop to Quarter then back to stop about 4 times then goes all the way accross to full for about 5 seconds then drops to zero then repeats this process over and over ... I have searched archives but no mention of this fault ... Anyone help with this problem ? ... Martin
BTW ... tank is full at this time

Try the simple stuff first -- remove the tank, unplug the gauge from the underside, clean the contacts, replug, and check. If still no luck, you'll want to pull the plate and look at the sensor inside the tank. It may need replacing, or it may just need cleaning.

I have to pull the plug/clean the contacts on my '96 about every other year (more often if I'm out in bad weather for a week or so).

Good luck!
