Lacing up some aluminium rims

The stock rims on my scrambler are steel and strong but weigh a ton.

I imagine that lighter rims might improve agility and general "flickyness" of this wonderful bike?

Any tips on relacing aluminium or lighter rims than stock?

What have people tried?

What are the results?

Thanks in advance

I've got Excell rims on my Scram, which I bought from Buchanans Spokes & Rims (for around $600 USD, if I remember right). They're a lot lighter & stronger than the originals, & I don't expect to flat-spot them, like I did the others.
I had my dealer lace them to my hubs (for $150 AUD), & the only problems I had, was the spokes had to be retensioned a few times, due to the holes being hand drilled & the spokes taking a little time to bed in properly.
But now they are bedded in, I'm very pleased with them. & yes, the bike does feel a lot more "flickable" (& it was no pig beforehand)

Concur. I did the same on my Bonneville, but went wider in the rear and 18" dia. up front.
Huge difference in handling!
