Alternative to Scrambler Wheels
I am looking at getting a Scrambler possibly this fall. What I am planning on doing is having a better off-road tire than the Death Wings mounted on the stock wheels and having something more street oriented mounted on a second set of wheels. Just wondering if anyone had found something like the wheels off of another triumph model that are a cast wheel and not spoked that will fit the Scrambler. I would prefer to run a tubeless tire for sporty/touring rides.
The Scrambler sure is purty! I did a very short test ride on one a couple of months ago and really like the feel of the bike. I am currently riding a BMW Rockster. Looking for something with a little more character/versatility and a retro look and feel, but DO NOT want a Harley. The Scrambler seems like a fairly versatile, dependable and well rounded bike. I just prefer to run tubeless tires for ease of repair and peace of mind when on a multi-day several thousand mile tour.
Any thoughts?

I personally think that cast wheels will look out of place on a Scrambler, but that's just my individual taste, & what you do with your bike is your business. However I've done over 40K klms on my Scram, & never had any problems with punctures from the tubed tyres, even after I flat-spotted the rims from too much bush-bashing.
So my advice would be to keep the stock rims for your road rubber, & fit some Excell Rims for bush work (Buchanons Spokes & Rims have them). Or you could do what I've done & fit Metzler Tourance tyres to Excell Rims, & then you've got a tyre & rim which can take everything the bike can dish out, on all surfaces.
NB Road tyres won't make a Scrambler handle any better, as the Tourance's hold on brilliantly, until the pegs scrape. & this would be the limiting factor for any tyre.

Old Scratcher, when you had Buchahan's build your wheels, what hubs did you use?

Buchanan's just supplied the rims & spoke, & I had my dealer lace them to my hubs. The only problem I encountered is, because the holes are hand drilled for the Scram, the spokes don't bed in as easy as they should, & need to be retensioned 3-4 times over the first 100 miles or so.

Appreciate the quick response. I agree that the the spoke wheels look best on the Scrambler. I have had bikes with spoked/tubes wheels before and didn't have but a couple of flats. Got lucky on one as it happened close to home. The other meant having the bike towed as opposed to a simple plug and go if I had tubless tires. Still, the odds are in my favor that it will never happen again.
The Tourances are great tires. I'm sure I could find a decent compromise tire. I'm just in the research phase of looking into a Scrambler and the possibilities for the bike. Thanks for your input.

I see you've found the fatal flaw in my plan Orpheus.
Yes, you will need a second set of hubs, if you want to run two sets of wheels. You're also going to need extra brake discs & a rear sprocket. But these should be available 2nd hand or on ebay.
