Have you taken the grin factor test yet?

Hi all you Triumph twin owners,

I have a Triumph Scrambler. Only just though as I purchased mine last Thursday. I did have a standard 790cc Bonneville 2 years ago (loved it but gave it away and thats a long story).

My last bike was a Kawasaki Versys (not sold in the USA). A good bike. It did all that was asked of it. But did it engage me? Did it 'move' me? Well....

An older biker (and I am no spring chicken) said to me the other day at our biker hang out:

'If you have a grin ear to ear when you take your bike helmet off, thats the test of a good bike.'

Its the grin factor test.

The Kawasaki Versys = NO grin factor (for me)

The Triumph Scrambler = Big grin factor (for me)

OK thats my opinion of course; but there is a certain something about the Triumph marque generally; can't define it but it has it. The Scrambler definitely has it; especially with the TORs fitted. It has that certain something that makes complete strangers compliment you; even non bikers and want to talk about your bike, when you park up.

Does your have 'the grin factor' too?

Casper / Dave

Both of my bikes deliver grins by the bucket load.
I don't give a bugger about mpg, it's smiles per mile that matter most to me.

Before I bought the Scrambler, I rode a Triumph Legend TT. A great bike, even faster than the Scrambler, had a great sound too. Handled well but... It generated just a small grin.

When my Scrambler era began I found out what great fun it is to ride a 'small' bike. A small bike with a great sound (TOR's) and lots of bottom power and which handles as if it is a swallow in flight hunting flies.

Where the Legend TT attracked attention from older men only, the Scrambler attracks attention from youngsters and women as well! The comfort for the pillion is great and my wife loves to take a ride with it. (as a pillion - she doesn't have a license) It generates a grin on het face as well.

Above all: it's a Triumph!

Hi Casper (Captain)
Blimey, you get around!!
The only bike that has given me a bigger grin than my Thruxton was my Buell S1 Lightning.
But at the end of the day, as long as it has 2 wheels I'm happier than in my car!

My T100 generates the grin factor just thinking about it! Now, the Speed Triple I test rode a while back generated the SCREAM factor!

Hiya 1st Garry,

yes, now that i have a good old triumph again I am back on the Ratnet it only seems like yesterday I had my 790cc Bonneville but it is in fact 2 years ago; how time flies.

By the way what you said on BHB (about getting a new bike) and what my wife also said convinced me to buy a bike with 'my heart'

Its a great trumpet forum this and I have found Scrambler owners from all over the world too

Take care,

Casper (Dave or CS )

Grins every time I ride, lots of thumbs up too. Really fun to ride, made even better with the TORs. I used to listen to my Ipod on long distance rides, but now with the TORs I don't need any other music.

By the way, they do sell the Versys here, debating between that, a Tiger and a V-Strom.
