My bags are getting holes in them...

Got some Cortech sport saddlebags and mounted them under the seat, without luggage brackets. Thought they'd be ok but now I find out the shock springs are wearing a hole in the bottoms! (Duct tape to the rescue).

Temporarily have them mounted over the saddle, with the tail bag. Think it should be ok as they don't touch the shocks. Would still prefer to mount them under the saddle.

Anyone done that successfully without luggage brackets? Anyone have some luggage brackets they don't want?

Newbonneville has some decent brackets for around $50 or so.

+1 on the newbonneville racks. A little pricey, but I guess worth it. Make sure you fasten those long straps and clips that came with the bags to the racks nice and tight.

Bag Rub

Had the same thing happen with cortec bags....changed from under the seat to over the seat and no problems. Those bags come with lots of spare pads so you can custom your installation, a bit of super glue and a small rectangle of foam added to the padding already there in the place the shock rubs will take care of the problem if you want the bags under the seat (better for security).

So I ordered the NB brackets..

Promised the wife I would stop spending money on the bike for a while, so I really hoped for a less expensive solution. Guess there isn't any

A little shoe goo will patch the current bruises, which are on the bottom.

I have the Cortech sport saddlebags and tail bag. I mount them on the seat, using the using the bungle cords in the tail bag to attach everything to the seat. On and off in seconds and no rubbing on the shocks and no brackets. I also load them up with heavy gear an still no problems.
