Tr9sc?

Do you think the Triumph Scrambler should/could wear that name?

Nah. It'd send the Meriden Crew apoplectic. & for once, I'd agree with them. The original TR6 Trophy was a proper desert racer, with many hard-fought wins to it's credit. The Scrambler is an excellent tribute to that bike, but the only thing it could race is other Scramblers. & for that reason I don't think it deserves either the TR or the Trophy tag.

How about the Triumph Scrambler Series, open to only Triumph Classics... 500 mile race anyone?

Man I'd love to!
I think the Baja Peninsular would be perfect, as it's the site of some of the original Trophy's greatest wins. & would attract sponsors like flies to treacle.

The Scrambler may not be the perfect bike but I think one could do reasonably well in Rallye-Moto. Here is a link to AdvRider:

What we need it Rickman Motorcycles to build a frame for the new Triumph Bonne engine, and then nothing could stop it happening. 1000 bikes all pretty much the same charging across the desert!

we can dream!

A modern Triumph Hare & Scramble would be fantastic, to compliment the Thruxton racing series that exists.

Don't associate with the old TR6, causes too much useless scrutiny like Old Scratcher alludes too.

Take the example of the new Moto Guzzi V7 classic

The original Eldorado was 750cc, so what tha problem?
Well the Guzzista are all in a fluff because its teh small block breva engine, not a big block like the original tractors, and 750cc isn't anywhere near fast enough to replicate the V7 Sport (even though this isn't a sport version).

I would like to see it with more cc too, but not for nostalgic reasons.

So instead of enjoying a good attempt by Guzzi to make a sweet retro standard thats cheap (Bonnie competitor) and wil get more Guzzi's out there, they're all busy bitching at each other!

Same would happen here

Good point Milkman. In this case, size doesn't matter! I want a V7 Classic and hope it makes it to the states some day.

I think a Scrambler race series would be too cool. I'd love to see that happen.

I very much doubt anything of that nature will happen this side of the pond, so I leave up to you Americans to reinvent Desert racing using Triumph Bonnevilles!

So if anybody feels the urge to take a stripped down, hotted up Scrambler out for a Desert test ride, please feel free and post your results here so everyone can see what a cool idea it would be!

Well, why would you want your new plastic bike with fake carbs proudly built by the new global econmomy to be tarred with the name of some leaky, unreliable old relics made by lazy communists from some dreary old backwater back in the 60's ?

Build it and let it stand (and sell) on its own merit.
