n30 with triumph tag. tag is thin metal, easy to shape to helmet. disregard the bug splats, getting bug season in florida.

Very nice.
It must be nice to be in the O.C. where people are into that ****, I'm in a small Northern Alberta town where I get a shocked look on my face if somebody recognizes my bike as a Triumph. I don't even try to talk about bobbers out here.

I love it when people gotta take a sanctimonious crap on our topic with a gory disfigurement story.
I got one for you:
A guy wakes up, gets out of bed, and goes to work. On his way to the office, a piano drops on him and dies. The moral is, life's a risk. I'll make the decision of the amount of precaution I take. Stay out of it. You're a stranger.

If it were a new helmet, made to '70s standards, that would be OK,but those are NOS helmets, made over 30 years ago.Which means that the EPS liner has (probably) chemically changed its properties. It could either be so soft that an impact would just flatten it,or so hard that your head will just bounce inside it.Either way,I wouldn't count on it for much impact protection. They do look cool though.I guess I really shouldn't talk. This is the bucket I wear most of the time, and even though it's modern DOT approved,I doubt it's really a whole lot better:
There are lots of different schools of thought about what different shapes and weights of helmets can do to your head and neck in an impact. Personally,I agree with Uzidizit. The more protection your head and face have in an impact, the more chance you have coming away as a functioning human being. Here's knocking on wood hoping I don't regret not practicing what I preach!

Cheers!
Bruce

Polo anyone?
I'm a full-on believer in ATGATT and full face helmets (I have a modular Zeus helmet in safety yellow, exactly like my avatar); however, I have worn a half-helmet a couple of times on very short local bops about town.
I've attached a pic that shows a Chrome Polo-style helmet (claimed to be manufactured to D.O.T. standards). I figured the "polo" style would go with the British theme. I paid $25 with shipping and its not bad for a half-helmet (got it from "Jafrum" on eBay). However, you can certainly tell the difference between it and a $150 helmet. There aren't any neck or ear warmers and the leather strapping (around your cheeks) isn't very padded. But it seems solid for a half-helmet. I truly got it for the CHROME finish, it really shines and is visible from afar!
On warm, short jaunts I may continue to wear it.
I will ~NEVER~ ever wear it on the highway.

+1, I have the orange one with the white stripe. Looks good with my tang and opal bonnie.
