I been to Thailand many times and love the place. Even did a Cobra Gold in Chon Buri. Great place, long live the King.

i sell ford super duty trucks that are made in mexico and mazda sells tribute suvs that are made in kansas city, so which one is american?????. bmw makes cars in the carolinas but i don't see anyone driving an x5 saying that they don't drive a german car. 20 or 30 years ago there was such a thing as truely american or german or english cars, not anymore and never again(with very very few exceptions) so if that is your thing then go buy a vintage machine and have fun working on it all the time. if you want a new, reliable machine that you can ride all the time & beat the hell out of on a regular basis with little to no worry that it is going to strand you then you will be forced into this thing called the 21st century where there are fewer and fewer definitive lines. some guys and gals have a hard time with that. my bike has got the 11th charachter "T", i'm over it and you should be too.

I am sorry that you and others had something to get over. I find it interesting that for as many people that are irritated by the subject they are provoked to reply. I thought we were all here because we had a common interest... Triumph?
I simply had a question and there is no hurdle in front of me, just road that needs ridden.

You should do a search on previous threads (there used to even be a sticky on it) Look for Thai Triumph's.
Then you might understand why many of us have reached the end of our tether with this subject, as it always ends the same way, with nothing getting resolved (How could it? Triumph's hardly likely to close it's Thai factory, 'coz we want them to).
But I'm sorry that you got a lot of undeserved agro, for asking an innocent question. & yes, it would stop a lot of buyer dissatisfaction if Triumph were more up-front about their Thai factory. But that's really something that should be taken up with them.
Ride that road.

Often I will read a thread on a topic that has previously been discussed - which is nearly ALL of them - and some replies pointedly lament that the topic has reappeared. But then...some do not. I wonder why that is. Miles per gallon, no center stand, costly accessories, winter, unobservant motorists, and on and on and on. What ever gets resolved? The preference of one tire over another? Nothing gets resolved except for mechanical problems.
The posts I am not in the mood to read, I don't. Perhaps a recycled topic presents a new point of view or more clearly defined old one, but to chide a member for doing so is really not nice.

On the subject of reposts, as a newbie I would not have thought to search on this topic but it interests me that it came up. I would have thought the bikes were all build in England and am a little disappointed that they aren't. However, I like my Speedy whether its UK or Thai so I won't miss any sleep over it.
Have no idea where mine is made..as the 11 character is not a J or T...it is as follows (the xx's mean there was a numeric in that spot)
SMTTJXXXXRXXXXXXX vin # from Oztralia.
Keep in mind, if I find out they get 'made in china', I won't be buying another one....If they want to keep the labor cost down to maximize profits, then I might as well buy something else thats cheaper, which most likely would come out of the same chop shop. (nothing against the chinese).

jd,
sorry if my message last night came off as hostile, wasn't meant to be, it's one of the negs of reading the written word as opposed to hearing the same words spoken. old scratch is right though, this is a old subject. again, apologies if i offended.

Guys,
If we refused to discuss anything that has been posted before...
we might as well close down the whole forum. I see this statement a lot as well - "stop wasting our time / search the archives / that has been discussed to death, etc."
Problem, and reality is - not too many subjects actually get resolved, they just run out of steam, or someone gets so nasty that the post just abruptly ends.
I suggest that the Moderators look at this, and perhaps after a pre-specified length of time we could vote on, or elect to agree/disagree. I also think the Search/Archives could be better organised as well (IMHO, sorry Mod's).
There are too many unresolved subjects in the archives to call many, many topics "closed".

Look Dunce - the ones made in Thailand are better than the Hinckley ones! They are made by diligent Thai workers that are devoted to their job and grateful to work at Triumph! Just think, your could have been assembled by a union worker who could give a Rat's Ass about you, your bike, his co-workers, the factory, his country, and onward! He definitely cares about 5pm and the pub though!

I'll match the quality of my 07 , Hinckley assembled T100 against your Thailand assembled bike any day of the week. For gawds saake, regardless of what country their assembled in, its the same dang parts.......
