Bonneville 50th Anniversary

So with the big Golden 50th coming up for our beloved Bonnevilles in 2009 what kinda cool Anniversary model would you like to see?? This could be a really good opportunity for Triumph, or they could hand the project over to someone like Paul Smith and really screw it up. I think some cool paint options and a more retro seat, alloy rims, floating front 320mm disc and 4 or 6 pot caliper, upgraded forks with adjustable preload and damping, better rear shocks with the same. Even options such as some type of "mag" wheel for those liking that feature.

Little more juice from the motor would be cool, they should be fuel injected in 09, so maybe higher compression and hotter cams could be utilized with computer controlled injection and still maintain easy starting and reliability for the masses. So much they could do, or we could just get more of the same, hmmm... maybe they'll figure out how to do the entire fuel tank in plastic next .

Bring back the kick starter, for the real retro feel

All of it sounds good to me. The idea of a T100 as a seriously upgraded Bonnie (not just a Bonnie with chrome and tacho) was mentioned in another thread.

How could I have forgotten such an important anniversary??! All I can say is that if they don't take this opportunity to make a lightweight hotter version of the Bonnie, it's safe to say that they'll never make one. Fingers crossed...

They might just put metal badges back on it and call it a special edition!

I hope not!! If it is, they'll have shown that they don't understand what the Bonneville is all about.

Gaiters and the proper color combination would be a good start with some design details to lend a nod to the original nacelle (including relocating the ignition switch).
