So I got my 904 all up and running, tuned about as well as the butt-dyno can, and I called my dealership to ask if they had a dyno (I knew they didn't, but I didn't want to say "hey who else has one" right off the bat).
They said call Cowboy Harley Davidson (the local HD slanger here in town). So I call, get put on hold a few times, the call gets dropped, I call back, etc. I finally get the service dept and ask about a dyno run.
Her first question: "Is it a Harley or a Buell?"
I said neither, she replied "we only dyno test HDs or Buells"
I said, "thanks, you're fabulous" and hung up.
Sheesh! It would have been great too because they're close to my place...the search continues.

That's awful. I hope you find a place that will do it for you. My local Harley dealer has a dyno, but I have not called to see if they would do it for me. I wonder...

Have you checked DynoJet? I am not sure how far you are from some of them, there seems to be 1 other in Austin.
I found one in my area that will run mine to get the jetting done for 60$ primary run and then 60$ an hour to tune.

That's effing ridiculous. I could see having that policy if they offered dyno runs as a free service to customers who'd bought a bike from them, but assuming you have to pay for the dyno run, who cares what kind of bike it is?
Asinine.
At least you won't have to put up with smarmy it-ain't-no-good-if-it-ain't-got-a-V-Twin sales/service people.

Actually, I was hoping to embarass a few HD owners, but maybe that's why they'll only test HDs.
They structure the racing rules that way too, HD only classes...

The only other dealer listed with a Dyno in Austin is also a Harley Dealer, I called them and they will only do HDs/Buells as well. What's wrong with these freakin' people?

That sucks! I cannot understand a business refusing to make money.

You probably only talked to some phone clerk. If I were you I would ride on over and talk to someone face to face. The Harley dealers around here are friendly to Triumph riders (they at least give me free coffee and food.) Once they see the bike, and can figure out how to lash it to the dyno, you probably will be up and running.

Personally, I'd leave it alone and move on. They are telling you that even if they were talked into doing your bike they are not competent to do it. Listen to them.
Our great big local Harley dealer is so "Harley exclusive" that they literally refuse to sell Buells. I bet that makes Milwaukee happy!
And the Harley dealer in Charleston WVA absolutely refused to fix a flat on my Bonnie on the last trip even though he was only a mile away and used to be a Hinckley Triumph dealer. He couldn't have cared less that I was stranded.
When you are on top you can afford to treat people like trash. But what comes around goes around -- in this life of the next! :-D At least that's my theory and I'm sticking to it.
Take the time and effort to find someone - even if it means riding to another city - who is actually INTERESTED in your mods and wants to do it.
Monte :-D
