I'll admit to some level of enjoyment that comes from owning a superior motorcycle, and sharing my opinions with others.
However, it has been years since I've shared such thoughts, because not everyone can keep a conversion on the subject in it's place. Even HD Riders.
I've seen practically every brand of motorcycle fall apart, fail, go down, or exhibit some sort of engineering-related failure. When I'm helping any rider get back home, either on the back of my bike or being driven in a vehicle, it doesn't matter what kind of bike they rode - as long as they are still content with the choice they previously made before the incident. I've taken HD Riders home, after they've gone down without wearing a helmet or jacket - and they don't change their habits. It may not be a wise decision, but as long as they are happy doing it then I'll still ride with them.
The other point I'd like to make is that I didn't create this site to serve as a platform for supporting negative association to less-privileged or handicapped people. There are several TriumphRat.Net Members, including myself, who have personal experience on this subject.
If you prefer to bash HD Riders down to a personal level, go elsewhere.
My apologies to everyone else.

Thanks Shawn. I was just thinking yesterday how disappointed I have been recently to see the bashing going on. In a previous thread, someone posed the question, "why is this such a successful forum?" and one of the observations I shared was the lack of bashing.
Having owned other brands myself, including Harley, I appreciate the merits of each. It's just that, right now, I'm enjoying my Triumph. Taking down other brands and their owners seems a cheap way to try to pump up my own decision and, by inference, my stature.
Interestingly, I have noticed much more "other brand" bashing on other forums, but almost none on Harley forums! I'd also share that, in my experience, more Harley riders stop to offer help when I'm parked on the side of the rode than others... closely followed by BMW riders.
Anyway, thanks for injecting a note of civility to the forum. This is a great one!
Roger

Funny thing is, i rarely ever see Harley bashing here. That is, HARLEY bashing. I see Harley RIDER bashing all the time tho ! Harleys are just fine. I don't happen to like their design, but thats just my taste, not because they're garbage or anything like that. They have their strong and weak points just like Triumphs. I just happen to like the Triumph's balance of strong to weak and where they each lie. The bashing that goes on is usually because of the rather inordinate amount of HD riders who many feel seem to have a superiority complex. I feel thats true, and it's not to say they are all like that. i just see it a lot and never really noticed it from any other riders. I have good friends who ride them and even they seem to feel they are superior. I feel my bike is superior, but i never say anything to them along those lines.
So i suggest we start referring to it as HD rider bashing.

The choice of motorcycle brand should be an individual choice. One should be tolerant of another's decisions of what bike to ride (no matter how wrong they are)

I must agree with Dazco. It's not the bike but the noticeable smugness displayed by many of the riders of that make. I sensed it in 1968 when my fledgling interest in motorcycles began, and it has grown along with the "mystique" of that brand. And it is a smugness I clearly have not noticed by riders of other makes of bikes.
I also agree with you that "cheap shots" leveled at the weak is simply unacceptable here or anywhere else, although I have not seen it at the RAT site.
