I just felt as good as it works this needs to be said. Mothers "sealer glaze". Ya know how after a short while black paint develops horrible spider-webbing, or in other words light scratching? Try this stuff. It literally hides that scratching to the point they look new again. I've been using it instead of wax and detailer, both of which do absolutly nothing to hide scratches. It's supposedly not long lasting, and you're supposed to wax over it or so i hear. But i've just been using the sealer and nothing else and the black on my bikes looks better than ever. And the scratching on it was about as bad as it gets. Leaves it real slick too. Great stuff. Nothing else does this ! (nothing as far as other TYPES of products, tho other sealers may. But i've only tried Mothers)

Thanks for the tip Daz. I may give that a try. Since I saw a review in Cycle World I have been using Maguires Tech Wax. Super good wax. Makes the tank look dripping wet. If you stuck a ruler up to the tank you'd be able to read the whole thing all the way to the far end in the reflection.

I have noticed that not washing the bike helps. The bug splatter effectively hides the scratching of the black paint.
Plus it adds a 3 D effect similar to that of a very expensive custom paint job. And it costs nothing at all.

And it matches my bug splattered jacket as well!

Lots of auto parts stores have mothers. Pep boys seem to have the best selection of mothers products, and sealer glaze might be hard to find so thats probably your best bet. Many places that carry mothers will only have a few of the more common products which wouldn't include sealer glaze. But i got it at pep boys and have found other harder to find mothers products there.

Lemmie know what ya'll think if you try it.

Thanks. I'm going to look for that stuff. Since my goal is to eradicate all the swirls and webs on my bike in my lifetime, I asked what to use on 'em in another forum. Someone suggested Zaino brand polish for swirl marks. I ordered a bottle ($16.00). If it works I'll let you guys know. I'm guessing that Mothers is more reasonably priced.

Yes, if i recall i paid in the neighborhood of $6 or 7 for the mothers. By the way, this does NOT erase the scratches ! It simply makes them invisable and they come back once it wears off. However, the Zaino will surely work i would think. But if it doesn't, try mothers scratch remover. It DOE'S indeed erase them.

But the reason i'm so stoked about the sealer glaze over the scratch remover is that those swirls will come right back quickly after you polish them out. It just takes cleaning and any wiping whether it be waxing, washing or detailing will bring the scratches right back. And it's a bit of a job to rub them out. But the sealer glaze just wipes on and off like liquid wax. So if you want the absolute best fix, scratch remover, then sealer glaze. but to be honest the glaze by itself covers them up so good i have little reason to bother rubbing them out with the remover. I can simple wipe the glaze on and off once every couple weeks or so and they'll stay invisible. Rubbing them out is a pain and they come back as soon as you wipe the paint down during cleaning anyways.

So in short you can use polish (scratch remover or whatever you wanna call it) and spend an hour or so working hard only to see them reappear in a couple weeks. Or you can wipe the sealer on and off in about 5-10 minutes once every couple weeks. Thats why i only use the scratch remover a couple times a year. Just when they get very bad. Also only seldom because any time you polish a finish with a clear coat you're chances of going thru it become a reality if you do it much. But in any case, you're talking 2 different things here.......covering the scratches up vs removing them. Both last about the same amount of time.
