I'm getting ready do my first round of mods to my bike (pipes, airbox, jetting, AI removal and whatnot) and would like to find a good reasonable dyno to tune at. I don't think my bike came set up quite right from the dealer so when I do it this time I want it to be dialed in. Anyone have any suggestions for dynos in the Charlotte/Greensboro/Winston area?

Thanks,
Primo

Call your local cycle dealerships, it doesn't matter what bike they deal with. More than likely they will have one. I dyno at a Yamaha/Suzuki dealership, FWIW.

Also, make sure you dyno at that shop with future mods so you get a more accurate reading of what additional mods got you.

Primo, go to Tilley Harley-Davidson right in town. They prep Buell race bikes, so I assume they have a dyno. Also, Ray Price H-D in Raleigh has one.

Dyno, short for dynamometer; is test instrument used to measure performance of an engine. Basically, your motorcycle is strapped to the equipment and your rear wheel sits on a cylinder. As your rear wheel turns sensors determine the amount of torque/ acceleration rate, etc... and sends the data to a computer.
Computer calculates HP at a giving rpm or wheel speed while taking into account air temp, humidity & other data. Most dynos are capable of much more... calculating Air-fuel ratios, for example.
Check my photos for dyno results I have posted in order to see what results look like.

I didn't even think about Tilly I called them and they do have a dyno. How many hours do you guys think it would take on the dyno to tune the Bonneville. They quoted 70 bucks an hour so I don't wanna be in there too long.

So I went down to Tilly's HD here and town and they "can't" put anything but HD's on the dyno. I did find a dyno though that will run it for 25 bucks a run so I guess I'm in business.
